New Blog

I'm still trying to work out all the kinks, but I have a new blog!

Twinsies!

Oh my, it's been awhile since I posted here!  I've been planning to give the ol' blog a facelift and just never seem to get it done.  Once I do, I have several catchup posts.

Facelift or no face lift, I have to post these two little cuties.  I was so excited this fall when I found out one of my friends was expecting twin little girls.  I knew I was going to have to have a chance to get my camera on them and I was thrilled that their momma was more than willing!  For today I'm just posting my favorite from their session but I'll be back really soon with the rest!

Jackson

This guy's mom has been so patient waiting for these so I'm posting a few to give her a little peek before I get the rest sent off to her.  Our summer sleep schedule around here is really throwing a wrench in my editing time.  Nobody wants to go to bed when the sun is still shining which means little down time for editing!

I was a little worried about this little man because he was a little older than I generally like but he did pretty good for a three weeker!   He was so cute and made me really, really want to rewind my own little guy back to that itty bitty newborn size.  They grow so stinkn' fast!

This shot was one of my favorites with my own little guy so I thought I'd do it again with Jackson.

I know I use this shot in almost every shoot, and I was determined not to use it this time for that reason, but Mom requested it.  It didn't take much to talk me into it- I love this basket and blanket together and babies always sleep so good in it!  I was happy to use it!

I'm so close to done with these Kristen.  Mostly I just need to look through them again when I'm not quite so buggy eyed.  I've been looking at my computer screen for too long and just need to make sure they're good to go!  Thanks again for being patient.

Little Mister

I've kinda abandoned this blog for awhile.  It shows that my last post was 3 months ago but there's good reason for that since my littlest guy just turned 3 months old yesterday!  Adjusting to four kiddos has been much easier than the adjustment to three but it's been an adjustment nonetheless.  I generally save working on pictures for a little personal down time after the kids are in bed but like clock work, that's about the time little dude wants nothing but me and him snuggled in the recliner (not such a bad thing).  Probably comes from too many nights sitting in the same recliner watching Prison Break while I worked on the laptop- guilty pleasure I had when I was pregnant with him.  I'm still bummed that we eventually made it to the last episode!  Anybody know of another good series to watch on Netflix?
I imagined myself having a photoshoot with him everyday of his first two weeks but a dose of reality changed my plans a little.  I forgot how tired I would be and how much time is needed just to cover the basics with a newborn.  I squeezed in a couple of short shoots and ended up with a few that I love.  So it's a little over due but here are some of his newborn pics (I still have some that I've never edited, maybe someday I'll get back to them!)

Don't you just love little baby sideburns?

Jay

Part of the reason I don't have any pics of my own kiddos is they usually have about two seconds of patience for it.  I talked Jay into a little photoshoot last weekend and for once she was all over it.  She would have spent twice the time coming up with all kinds of poses for me.  I'll have to make another post of some of "her" poses and a few more of "mine."  She was totally cracking me up.

She told me she didn't want any smiles that showed her crazy teeth but I told her we had to have some because that's just part of being the age she is!  She's been so paranoid that the second tooth there was never going to come in and she'd have to have a fake one.  It has taken it's sweet time but it finally popped through this week- she was so relieved!

I've been tempted to bob her hair this spring after dance recital but I'm not sure I'll be able to after doing these.  I'll have to keep thinking about that one.

Preslee

I thought I had it made when Miss Preslee arrived sleeping so soundly but it didn't take very long to figure out that she had other plans.  I'm not sure if I've just had a couple of fiesty little girlies these past couple of times or if being very pregnant myself has made me lose my touch to getting them to sleep!
She was adorable and I still think I got some pretty cute shots of her.

I'm generally not a big fan of awake newborn shots because they usually look somewhere between being asleep and awake but little miss was wide awake for a bit so I went with her plan and love this little awake pic of her.

I love getting a chance to play with all these cute babies and am so glad for the moms that let me.
I can't wait for the next baby that I'll be posting- he's due in a few weeks and he's all MINE!  Looking forward to his arrival and hope he's super patient with me cause I'm sure I'll be trying to squeeze in several shoots with him.  (29 days to go, but who's counting?)

Thanks for bringing her Megan!

Sweet Suz

It's not really a New Year's resolution but it is a resolution...
I'm a complete failure when it comes to taking real pictures of my kids.  I have plenty of the day to day stuff but only one solitary framed photo of them displayed in our home.  I want to change that!

Miss Mya {Southern Idaho Newborn Photographer

This fiesty little sweet heart made me work for it! She wasn't really fussy or upset, she just never would fully give up and get in that super sleepy newborn mode that lets me play a little. These still make me laugh when I go through them because her mom and I worked hard for these for almost three hours and this is literally all the shots I got!
I still loved playing with her- thanks for being so patient Melissa!

Trey (Part 2)

Finally sat down to post these.   These were so much fun to shoot.  When he and Mom arrived he was wide awake and naturally Mom said it was the most awake he'd been since he was born but he finally gave in and did awesome!

Mom brought this little tractor along so we could get one for his daddy.

He even gave us a couple of smiles!

Thanks for bringing him Ami!

Darrington Family

We've been planning this shoot for a couple of months now waiting to be able to squeeze Dad into the schedule!  The wait turned out perfect and the colors and lighting were AWESOME the evening we did these!  I think it might have been the last of the year.  Mom ordered these big on canvas to add to her front room remodel project- can't wait to see them!
Thanks for the fun evening (and late night hanging out with me editing!)!

I'm always nervous to take pictures of older kids, newborns can't get away from me and generally stay posed exactly the way I put them.  With older kids it's more like tricking them into being where I want them and crossing my fingers I catch them at just the right moment.  These two little ladies did an awesome job!  Big sis wanted to add her own flair here and there but she was great and I think we got some good ones of both of them.

I still need to get the rest of Trey's cute session posted!
